In Memory of Kenneth Brooks Sr.

KENNETH VINCENT BOOKS SR, 63, of Minong, Wisconsin, passed away after a heart attack on September 2, 2016 in Spooner, Wisconsin.
Kenneth was born to Vincent and Delores (Sexton) Passe on November 14, 1952 in Wabasha, Minnesota. He lived in Ellsworth, Wisconsin, for the majority of his life, graduating from Ellsworth High School in 1970. He worked for Thomas & Betts, now Trinity Industries Utility Structures, as a welder for 42 ½ years. Upon his retirement in December of 2014, he relocated to Minong, Wisconsin.
He enjoyed spending time with his children, grandchildren, family, and friends; traveling the United States and abroad; boating; four wheeling; and hunting. He had a knack for fixing anything and a passion for creating items out of metal.
He is survived by his loving wife of 27 years and children, June, son Kenneth Jr (Kelly) Books of Eau Claire, Wisconsin, daughter Jacqueline (Guillermo) Urquia of Woodbury, Minnesota, daughter Kristin Books of Lonsdale, Minnesota; mother, Delores Books of Ellsworth, Wisconsin; siblings, Vincent Books, Roger (Lori) Books, David (Bonnie) Books, Monica (Dennis) Beasley, Robert (Johanna) Books, Michael (Terri) Books, and Mark (significant other, Joanie Churchill) Books; and grandchildren, Mason, Kaden, Ella, Regan, Marie, Milena, and Mackenzie.
Kenneth was preceded in death by his wife, Patricia (Irvin) Books whom he was married to from 1974 until her death in 1981; father, Vincent Passe; step-father, Walter Books; grandparents, William and Theresa Passe and Edmond and Agnes Sexton.
Visitation and funeral will be at St. Paul’s United Church of Christ in Ellsworth, Wisconsin, on Monday, September 12, 2016 from 12-3 p.m., with funeral service starting at 3 p.m. Interment at St. Francis cemetery will follow.
In lieu of flowers, the family has set up the Kenneth Books SR Memorial Fund at Royal Credit Union. The fund will be used to honor his commitment to welding and fabrication.
The family would like to thank Spooner Health Hospital staff, ambulance personnel, and first responders for everything they did during his final hours of life.
