In Memory of James Williams
James L. "Jim" WIlliams, 82, of Cumberland passed away peacefully on Monday, December 9, 2019 at his home with his bride by his side. He was born July 7, 1937 in Fairmont, MN to Harold and Hallie (Ehlers) Williams. He was married at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Cumberland on November 7, 1958 to Darlene Nielsen.
Jim was a man of many talents and interests. He was a skilled carpenter, loved to play cards, fish, attend auction sales and pitch horseshoe. He and Darlene went to fish fry nearly every Friday night all over the tri-county area. Jim volunteered at the Cumberland Senior Citizens Center and was often seen helping at the Staples Lake ice races. He was kind and gentle and will be missed deeply by the many that loved him.
He is survived by his wife, Darlene; their children: Dean (Cindy) Williams, Steve Williams, Tammie (Don) Brunette and Heidi (Mike) Hermann; grandchildren: Amanda, Dustin, Kate, Chance, Nick, Jake and Jenna; great grandchildren: Sophie, Xavior and Opal; nieces, nephews, and other relatives. Jim was preceded in death by his parents; an infant brother, Roger; stepmother, Ruth; sister, Jane (Ross) Solberg; stepbrother, Eugene; granddaughter, Abbey and great granddaughter, Amelia.
A Celebration of Jim's Life will be held in the Spring of 2020.
