In Memory of James W Jorgensen
August 5, 1929 - October 22, 2018
James Jorgensen, age 89, a resident of Spooner, died on Monday, October 22, 2018 at the Indianhead Medical Center in Shell Lake.
James was born on August 5, 1929, in Milwaukee, Wisconsin to parents Lawrence and Mabel (Olson). He lived in Racine until he was 10 years old when the family moved to Spooner. They became members of Trinity Lutheran Church where he was confirmed on April 2, 1944. He attended and graduated from the Spooner School District, the Class of 1947. Jim served in the US Army for a year and then in the National Guard for an additional 3 years. On September 27, 1958, he was united in marriage to Marion Becker at Trinity Lutheran Church. Jim worked at the Indianhead Flower Shoppe that was started by his parents and then worked 30 years for the Spooner Postal Service as a Clerk and also a Rural Mail Carrier. Jim retired in 1991 and the couple began wintering in Mesa, Arizona, where after living in apartments for 4 years, they purchased a home there. The couple stopped wintering in Arizona in 2013 due to health issues. He enjoyed taking mile long walks in Arizona, fishing, woodworking, and classic cars.
Jim is survived by his wife of 60 years, Marion, sons Douglas Jorgensen of Spooner, Russel Jorgensen of Mesa, Arizona, nieces Deborah Vogel of Spooner, WI, Sandra Johnson of
Turtle Lake, WI, nephew Kevin Becker of Turtle Lake, WI, and brother in law Otto Becker of Turtle Lake, WI.
Jim is preceded in death by his parents, and twin brother William “Bill” Jorgensen.
