James William Correll was born on May 23, 1935, in Drummond, WI, the son of James and Elinor (Westphal) Correll.

He graduated from Spooner High School and attended Stout State University for one year.

He was joined in marriage to Bonnie Gregerson on August 20, 1955, at the Hayward Wesleyan Church. Jim was the service station and bulk plant manager at the Northern Lakes Co-op before becoming the Ambulance and Emergency Government Coordinator for Sawyer County, retiring from the County in 1990. He also worked as a broker for Hayward Lakes Realty for 20 years and part-time for the Anderson Funeral Home for many years. He was a member of the Hayward Moose Lodge and a member and Past Master of the Hayward Masonic Lodge. He was a member of the Council Commandry and Chapter of the York Rite as well as Shriner for nearly 40 years. Jim was a charter member of the Town of Hayward Fire Department and served for 25 years on the Hayward City Council, 15 of those years as Council President. He was also President of the Board of the Hayward Community Credit Union for 10 years. He was a member of the Hayward Wesleyan Church.

Jim is survived by his wife, Bonnie of Hayward; five children:  Michael (Rita) Correll of Rice Lake, WI, Kerry (Julie) Correll of Wausau, WI, Debra (Curtis) Seiler of Janesville, WI, Barbara (Bill) Mika of Star Prairie, WI, and Sherri (Peter) Keller of South English, IA; 22 grandchildren; 15 great grandchildren; and one brother, Jerry Correll of Silver Bay, MN.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

A memorial service celebrating Jim’s life will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, October 28, 2023 at Hayward Funeral Home with Pastor Loretta Sunderland officiating. A time of gathering with family and friends will be held from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m. on Saturday at the funeral home. Interment will be in the Greenwood Cemetery in Hayward.
