In Memory of James Verdick
James “Jay” “Hound dog” Verdick, age 81, of Siren, passed away on October 17, 2019, at the Frederic Nursing and Rehab in Frederic, WI.
Jay was born on October 18, 1937, in Alpha, MN, to parents, Ruth (Willis) and Henry Verdick. He graduated from Jackson High School in 1955. After graduation, Jay enlisted in the United States Army in November of 1955. He was stationed in Germany and was honorably discharged in 1958.
Jay worked for Lunda primarily in Bridge Construction until his retirement in 1991. He then made Clam Lake in Siren, WI, his permanent home.
Jay was a simple man who enjoyed social outings drinking beer and playing cribbage. He loved living on Clam Lake, fishing and spending time outdoors. He also built many duck and bird houses over the years, many of which he donated to the Moose Lodge for fundraisers. He was also known for taking and collecting the best photographs. He will be dearly missed.
Jay is survived by his brother, Donald Verdick; sister, Gwen Mayer; special buddy, Buck Dicks; sister-in-law, Alta Verdick; and many nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews, other relatives and friends.
Full military honors will be conducted on November 1, 2019 at 1:00pm at the Northern Wisconsin Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Spooner.
A gathering will follow.
