In Memory of James T. Linder
James Thomas Linder, 90, of Cumberland died Monday, December 24, 2018 at his home in the company of his family. He was born September 9, 1928 in Cumberland to Dorothy Linder, was raised in both Cumberland and St. Paul, MN. He was married in St. Mary Catholic Rectory - Cumberland on September 8, 1951 to Alberta Schulte. They began dairy farming with Alberta's Uncle Henry Blume that same year, and later purchased the farm, retiring in the late 1980's. Jim was an accomplished upright dixieland and jazz bassist, playing with many bands in the area. He also had a passion for WWII history, hunting, playing cards, drinking coffee with sweet rolls and socializing.
He is survived by his loving wife, Alberta Linder of Cumberland; children: Darlene (Dave Bailey) Linder of Shell Lake, Bob (Sue) Linder of Cumberland, Mary (Tom Diemert) Linder of Lake Shore, MN and Sue (Greg) Kuhn of Juneau; grandchildren: James Brinker, Katherine Brinker, Dustin (Erin) Linder, Mandi Linder, Mike (Ann) Conkey, Katie Conkey, Erika Diemert, Leslie (Casey) Kuhn-Thayer, Phillip (Ashley Vergenz) Kuhn and Morgan Kuhn; great grandchildren: Kendra Brinker, Kaleb Rhead and Frances Thayer; nieces, nephews and other relatives. Jim was preceded in death by his daughter, Dr. Frances Kaye Linder Lang.
A Memorial Mass will be held at 10:30 AM on Saturday, December 29, 2018 at St. Anthony Catholic Church with Father Tom Thompson officiating and burial to follow in the church cemetery. Serving as pallbearers are Dave Bailey, Sue Linder, Tom Diemert and Greg Kuhn. A visitation will be from from 9:00 to 10:30 on Saturday at the church.
