In Memory of James J. Isabella
James J Isabella, (91), of Rice Lake, Wisconsin, passed away on January 24, 2024.
James (Jim) was born to Joseph and Vivian (Conrad) on December 12, 1932 in Superior, WI.
He was a talented athlete who loved all things sports. He especially loved fishing, hunting, and basketball. Jim was inducted into the UWS Hall of Fame in 1999 for his talent at basketball. Between high school and college, he joined the Army and was in the Korean Conflict. In 1955 he returned home and married the love of his life, Nancy. Together they raised three sons and settled in Rice Lake where Jim worked as an Industrial Tech. Ed. teacher for the Rice Lake School District. Jim will be remembered for his great sense of humor, his love for sweets, and the summers spent playing yard games with his granddaughters. Jim is survived by his two sons: Mark ( Melissa) Isabella and Tony (Chris) Isabella. His sister, Elsa (Burke) Koester. And his beloved golden retriever, Princess.
Jim is survived by his two granddaughters Cindi (Steve) Wachtler and Hannah (Patrick) Peterson. As well as, three great-grandchildren: Rowan, Noah, and Vivian.
Jim is preceded in death by his parents, his wife Nancy, his son Jimmy, as well as his sister Joanne. The family of Jim would like to extend their sincere gratitude to the Vista Prairie at Brentwood community in Rice Lake and the Marshfield Hospice for their continuous outstanding care and support. They would also like to thank Dove Healthcare for their excellent rehabilitation program.
A funeral service will be held at Appleyards Home for Funerals, 19W. Messenger Street, Rice Lake, WI on Saturday, February 10, 2024, at 11:00 A.M. with a visitation one hour prior. Interment will be at St. Joseph’s Cemetery, with military honors, immediately following the prayer service.
