James Owen Fults, age 90, a current resident of Osseo MN, and longtime resident of Chetek, WI, passed away Tuesday, May 19th, 2020, at the Villa at Osseo. He was born April 4, 1930 the son of Marion (James) and Martha (Grace) Briggs Fults in Thorp, WI.

In his early years he lived in Stanley WI, and then went on to UW Eau Claire to pursue a degree in Mathematics and he later received his master’s degree from UW Madison. He always had a love for sports and spent many years coaching, playing golf, and cheering on the Green Bay Packers, UW Eau Claire Blugolds, and Chicago Cubs. The vast majority of his teaching years were at Chetek High School, where he will always be remembered as an outstanding math teacher, coach, referee, and athletic director.  James was an active member of Chetek Lutheran while living in Chetek, and enjoyed directing and singing in the church choir for many years.

James is survived by his 4 children, Luanne (Don) Schwarzhoff, Kevin (Marti) Fults, Brad (Kathy) Fults, Tim (Cindy) Fults and 3 step children: Bill (Jeni) England, Phil (Lisa) England, Sheri (Gary) Coleman. Also survived by 9 grandchildren, Patrick, Michael, Matthew, Katie, Andy, Eric, Garrick, Kristin, Jordan, 10 step-grandchildren, Taylor, Tory, Amber, Coral, Tyler, Trevor, Travis, Emme, Connor, Jared, Brandon, and 14 great-grandchildren, Raelyn, Alena, Jozie, Owen, Ashton, Evan, Kinsley, Sutton, Bennett, Aubrey, Whitney, Brenner, Avett, and Freya. He will be greatly missed by all his family.

James was preceded in death by his parents, James and Grace, his brother Doug, his first wife Carol Jean and his second wife Donna Mae.

A memorial service will be held at Chetek Lutheran Church at a future date.

The Burnham-Ours-Kolstad Family Funeral Home of Chetek has been entrusted with arrangements.
