In Memory of Irene I. Hansen

Irene Ida (Koski) Hansen came roaring into this world in 1932 and left peacefully in 2022.

She celebrated her 90th birthday enthusiastically, much as she lived her life.

Her parents, Nick (Gumpy) and Adeline (Bubba), her brother Eddy and his wife Halyna, her granddaughter Christine, and her husband Clyde are waiting to hear her play the piano and sing, giving any angel a run for his money.

She now leaves to her sons and their families the pleasure of telling the stories of her many exploits: son Michael and his wife Virginia, their daughters Artemis and Persephone, their husbands, Matt and Nate, and their children, Lilith and Petra (Artemis) and Felix (Persephone); son Douglas and his wife Teresa and their children, Jenna, Valarie and her husband Jordan; son Johnny and his wife Lori and their son, Jake.

And are there stories to tell! Of her time as one of the first women in the Airforce during the Korean War (she reached the rank of Corporal); of her many travels, including time in Bermuda, making sure that she and her boys were together with Clyde during his time in the Air Force; how she battled sexist employers during her time as one of the best secretaries there were; how she went from being a stylish city girl to loving the country; and how she and Clyde came to be called Summa and Bucka, among other tales. We can aspire to reach the heights of her storytelling prowess, but fear we will never be quite as great as she was.

Although she loved flowers, she would appreciate that any donations anyone wishes to make go to Adoray Home, Health and Hospice, where she volunteered for many years.

A service at the Northern Wisconsin Veterans Memorial Center will be scheduled at a time to be determined.

Arrangements are entrusted to Rowe Funeral Home in Luck and the Northwest Wisconsin Cremation Center in Milltown .
