In Memory of Imogene Christopherson

October 9, 1924 - December 5, 2020

Imogene M. Christopherson, age 96, a resident of Grantsburg passed away on December 5, 2020 at Burnett Medical Continuing Care Center.

Imy was born on October 9, 1924 to parents, Arthur and Agnes Johnson in Frederic, Wisconsin. She graduated from Grantsburg High School in 1942 and worked as a secretary in the area and later in Minneapolis until she was married.

Imy married Alwin Christopherson on October 4, 1947 at the English Lutheran Church in Grantsburg. Together they raised three daughters. They lived on the family farm for five years before buying Quality Dairy Service. They owned and operated the business for 25 years. After the business was sold, she worked in the dietary department at Burnett Medical Center.

Imy and Alwin loved to have neighbors and friends over to visit and play games of 3-13. She was a wonderful hostess and their guests never left without a “little lunch”. Imy was a long time, active member of Faith Lutheran Church in Grantsburg.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Alwin; parents, Arthur and Agnes Johnson; brothers, Donald Johnson and Dallas Johnson and sister, Dorothy Holoien.

Imy is survived by her daughters, Jane (Bill) Steinke, Gail (Dan) Schulner and Mary (Gene) Arnold; her grandchildren, Mark (Jessie) Steinke, Sara (Chris) Cervenka, Gina (Mike) Toutant, Kristi (Kurt) Trunkel and Jeremy Arnold; 10 great grandchildren; her sister, Katie (Jack) Hedlund; brother, Merlin (Carol) Johnson; along with many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

The family would like to thank the entire staff at Burnett Medical Continuing Care Center for their loving compassionate care given to our mother during her entire time with them.

A private graveside service will be held at Riverside Cemetery. A Celebration of Life will be held in Spring 2021.

Arrangements were entrusted to Swedberg-Taylor Funeral Home, Grantsburg.
