In Memory of Ida A. Peterson
Ida A. Peterson, age 82, of Clayton, passed away on Saturday, November 16 at Lakeview Medical Center in Stillwater, Minnesota.
She was born on September 19, 1942 to William and Lillian (Lafferty) Juntunen in Cumberland. She married Kenneth H. Peterson on July 2, 1960 at Bethany Lutheran Church near Almena. They had one daughter, Yvonne.
Ida was very involved in the farming community. She was a member of the Barron County Holstein Association, in which she was the secretary/treasurer for 12 to 14 years and was the historian for the club. She also won the Friend of the Farmer Award. In 1988, she was chairman of the 1st District Show. She helped show cattle at the fairs throughout the State of Wisconsin.
She worked at West Cap and then worked as a social worker for Barron County Social Services. She was also very involved at Bethany Lutheran Church as a Sunday School and Bible School Teacher, President of the Ladies Aide, Advisor of youth groups, i.e. Lutheran League. When Bethany Church closed, Ida was then a member of First Lutheran Church in Barron.
Ida enjoyed reading, cooking and judging open class at fairs.
She is survived by her daughter, Yvonne Peterson of Clayton; brothers, Bill (Rhonda) Juntunen of Barron and Wayne (Annie) Juntunen of Citrus, FL; sisters, Verna Gillen of West Des Moine, IA and Connie (Ken) Miller of Elko, NV; as well as nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, a brother and a sister.
A Memorial Service will be held on Tuesday, December 3, 2024 at 11:00 a.m. at First Lutheran Church in Barron. A visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at the church on Tuesday morning.
