
In Memory of Helen A. Thompson
Helen Alice Thompson, 82 of Rice Lake, WI entered into eternal rest in heaven on Saturday, April 5th, 2025 at her home.
She was born on November 12, 1942 in Kalevala Township to John and Vieno Leppioja. She grew up in Kettle River MN before moving to Duluth, where she graduated high school. She attended business college in Minneapolis and lived there for several years. While there, she actively served in the Billy Graham ministry and through her church, she met and married Joe Thompson on May 22, 1971. Together they had five children. She enjoyed playing games, traveling and visiting with family and friends, but what she loved most was sharing the good news and love of Jesus with everyone around her. She was active in her church at First Lutheran, and was faithfully serving on their prayer chain.
She is survived by their children, Tammy Gladue, Mark Thompson, Jeremiah Thompson and Christie (Tim) Blischke; 3 grandchildren, Dakota, Adam and Bowen; 2 sisters, Faye (Clyde) Peer and Marion (Jeff) Johnson; many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Rev. Joe Thompson; a daughter, Mary Thompson; her parents and 8 siblings.
Funeral Services will be held at 11AM Thursday, April 17, 2025 at the First Lutheran Church in Rice Lake WI, Rev. Jon Cluppert officiating, with interment in the New Auburn Cemetery in New Auburn, WI. Visitation will be held for one hour prior to the funeral service at the church.
