
In Memory of Harold "Bud" Brooks
Harold "Bud" Brooks, 96 of Rice Lake, WI, died on Saturday, April 12, 2025 in Rice Lake of natural causes. He was born on January 30, 1929 in Ladysmith, WI to Chester and Gladys (Nelson) Brooks. He lived in St. Paul, MN from 1954 to 1957, New Brighton, MN from 1957 to 2002 and from then until the present, he resided in Rice Lake. On August 7, 1954 he married Delores Wilson in Exeland, WI.
Bud loved spending time with his family, watching the Twins and Packers, fishing, deer hunting, playing horseshoes, casino games and pool. He enjoyed framing and selling art prints. He loved camping at Winterhaven (for 60 years!) So many of the other campers became best friends and chosen family. Bud was also a member of the Methodist Church and served in the US Army.
Bud is survived by his wife Delores, three daughters: Cheryl (Ron) Rains of Coon Rapids, MN, Jan (Dick) Williams of Isanti, MN and Lori (Ian) Bird of Lindon, UT, daughter-in-law Ronda Barfknecht-Brooks of Tony, WI, 15 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents Chester & Gladys Brooks, Son Jerry Brooks and two sisters and their husbands: Grace (Junior) Nicholson and Gloria (Raymond) Fecteau.
A memorial service will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Saturday, June 21, 2025 at the Rice Lake American Legion located at 1404 Macauley Avenue Rice Lake, WI 54868. A celebration of life will follow immediately until 3:00 P.M. A private burial will be held at a later date at Riverside Cemetery in Ladysmith.
