In Memory of Harley A. Jasperson
Harley Albert Jasperson, age 97, passed away on November 30, 2024, at the Minnesota Veterans Home in Silver Bay, Minnesota.
Harley was born to Albert and Ruby Jasperson on July 20, 1927, in Chetek, Wisconsin.
Harley had a passion for fishing and hunting in his younger years. He also enjoyed riding his motorcycle, ATV, and snowmobile. His sense of adventure was evident throughout his life. A creative and resourceful person, he loved fixing and inventing things around the house. Harley found joy in feeding the squirrels and birds, often taking time to watch them. At the age of 17, he joined the Merchant Marines, serving for three years before transferring to the Navy, where he served for four more years. After his military service, Harley married the love of his life, Jane Metcalf, and they enjoyed 62 years of marriage. He worked briefly at Minneapolis Molene before relocating to Silver Bay, where he spent nearly 30 years working at Reserve Mining. After retiring, Harley and Jane settled in Chetek. He will be dearly missed by all who knew him.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Albert and Ruby Jasperson, and his loving wife, Jane (Metcalf) Jasperson.
Harley is survived by his children, Sheryl (Vane) Hoff, Rhonda (Tom) Nelson, Julie (Steve) Knoll, Todd (Cathy) Jasperson, and Tami (Randy) Duke, 12 grandchildren, 24 great-grandchildren, and siblings, Janice Peterson, LaVerne Jasperson, and Marilyn Koppen, as well as many nieces, nephews, and other loving family and friends.
A Memorial Service will be held on Monday, December 9, 2024, at the Chetek Lutheran Church in Chetek, Wisconsin, at Noon. Visitation will take place from 11:00 AM until the time of the service. The family invites those attending to a luncheon in the church's fellowship hall following the service.
