In Memory of Gregory E. Rostvit Jr.


October 16, 1972 - November 30, 2023

Gregory Edward Rostvit Jr, age 51, from Hayward, passed away unexpectedly on Thursday, November 30th, in Shakopee, MN.

He was born October 16, 1972, in Virginia, MN.

He was a graduate of Cook High School class of 1991 and was a “force” on the basketball court. After graduation, he attended Northland Baptist Bible College in Dunbar, WI. He was employed by Bankers Life & Casualty and Bastion Insurance Group, for over twenty years in Minnesota and Iowa, achieving top-level awards and recognitions.

Greg loved the great outdoors, golfing, hunting with his Dad and Grandpa, and going on many memorable fishing and canoe trips with his Dad. He was an avid Minnesota Gopher fan, using his season tickets to attend many years of volleyball and football games. His love of the beautiful Northwoods made his move to the Hayward area a dream come true. His Dad always had a campfire, and feeding the wildlife was great fun.

In recent years, he met the love of his life, Julie Harris, and looked forward to a long and happy life with her. They enjoyed many wonderful adventures and escapades, especially their Hayward trips and spending time with his grandson Emiliano.

Greg is survived by his daughter Meghan and grandson Emiliano of Hayward; his best friend and soulmate, Julie of Forest Lake, MN; his parents, Greg and Julie of Hayward, his sister, Mary Beth; his niece Bethany of Bemidji, MN; his nephews, Justin of Hoyt Lakes, MN, Treyton and Tryston of Bemidji, MN; his beloved aunt, Jane Treibel of Mountain Home, AR; his special cousin, Connie Vallem Carlson of Foxboro, WI; his longtime co-workers/best friends Scott Haugen and Anthony Griffin and extended family.

A memorial service will be held at 2:00 P.M. on Saturday, December 9, 2023 at Northern Lights Christian Center in Hayward, where visitation will be held from 1:00 P.M. until the hour of the service. Interment will be held privately.

Greg will be remembered for his beautiful welcoming smile, his outgoing personality, his generous spirit, and devotion to his family. He will be deeply missed by all those who knew and loved him.
