In Memory of Gloria J. Hanson
Gloria Jean Hanson (Martinson), age 80, of Amery, WI passed away on Sunday, September 15, 2024 after a lengthy battle with dementia at Golden Age Manor in Amery, WI
She was born on March 15, 1944 to Arthur & Vera (Zeman) Martinson in the Town of Hay River and grew up on the family farm north of Wheeler, WI. She rode horses, gathered cattle, hunted and adored her twin brothers, Robert & Richard. Gloria married Merlin Fox in April of 1963 and to this union, their daughter Brenda was born. They later divorced. Later on, Gloria married Larry Zemke and he ultimately left her widowed after dying in a plane crash. On February 14, 1981, Gloria married Gary Hanson and to this union their son Michael & daughter Jennifer were born. They journeyed through their years on a hobby farm in Centuria, WI. Gloria loved to go fishing with the kids, hunt, crochet, garden, can her garden goodness & cook more food than could feed an army, all of which was very delicious. No one ever left hungry. More than anything, she loved her nieces, nephews, grandchildren & great-grandchildren as if they were her own children. Sundays were spent watching the Packers and spending time with family.
Gloria is preceded in death by her husband: Gary, parents: Arthur and Vera Martinson, brothers: Robert, Wilbur (Jo), Kenneth (Rose), Orval (Marie), George (Joan) & Arthur Jr., brother in-law: Harold Glaser, Sisters: Velma (Clarence Jr.) Bever & Halene (Gordy) Stillman & sister in-law: Donna. Gloria leaves behind her children: Brenda (Vance) Eastman, Michael Hanson & Jennifer (Rob) Landgren, step-children: Teri Hanson & Matt Hanson, her brother: Richard, sisters: Ethel (Charles) Keller & Shirley Glaser, grandchildren: Tom Carlson (Stephanie Gordon), Carrie Carlson (Jesse Retzlaff), Sarah Lansin, Abigale Landgren & her pride and joy that brought her so many smiles in the nursing home, Jackson Landgren, great grandchildren: Ethan Carlson, Sophia Grenier, Ava Grenier, Carter Lansin, Cylus Rodewald & Lolly Carlson, along with many nieces and nephews.
Funeral Services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, September 21 at Hay River Lutheran Church in the Town of Hay River, rural Wheeler, with Rev. James Krueger officiating & interment following in the church cemetery. Visitation will be held for the hour prior to services at the church. Arrangements are with Rausch-Lundeen Funeral Homes, Dallas & Cameron.
