In Memory of Geraldine J. Deering

February 28, 1932 - January 26, 2024

Geraldine “Gerrie” Joyce Deering, age 91, entered into Eternal Life after a long battle with dementia on Friday, January 26, 2024 at Christian Community Home of Osceola, WI.

Gerrie was born to Leo and Frieda (Kraus) Huss in St. Paul, MN on February 28th, 1932.

Gerrie was united in marriage to Donald “Don” Deering on December 15, 1956. They were married for 52 beautiful years before Don passed away in 2008. They lived in Cottage Grove, MN and were blessed with six children. In 1976, they moved to Siren, WI where they bought their forever home on Clear Lake. Many fond celebrations and memories were held there with their family. They enjoyed driving to Branson, MO several times a year, going out to lunch most every day, trips to the casino, and hosting the best Fourth of July gatherings. Gerrie’s passion was being in the kitchen and cooking. She had a talent of creating homemade recipes and was fondly known for spaghetti and meatballs, homemade egg rolls and the list goes on and on. She made sure no one left the table hungry as she served each family member with a generous sized portion. She was a homemaker and caretaker for her family who she loved deeply. She always had the biggest heart.

In 2020, Gerrie moved to Comforts of Home in St. Croix Falls, WI and recently resided in Christian Community Home of Osceola, WI.

Gerrie will forever be missed by her children Robyn (Terry) Bjornstad, Donnie (Debbie) Deering Jr., and Randy (Jean) Deering; grandchildren Shaun, Jamie, Amber, Faith, Adam, Joshua, Donielle, Jennifer, Calli, Brittany and Kaci; 17 great-grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews, and friends.

Gerrie is reunited in Heaven with her parents Leo and Frieda, beloved husband and soulmate, Donald; daughters, Michele and Lisa Marie; son Frankie Leo; sisters LaDonna Bennis, Sharon Martagon and Gloria Huss.
A private celebration of life will be held at a later date.

In memory of Gerrie and her love for all animals, especially her kitties, donations can be made to Gregory’s Gift of Hope (GGOH), New Richmond, WI.

The family would like to extend sincere thanks and gratitude to the staff at Adoray’s Hospice and the staff at Christian Community Home for their above and beyond care shown to Gerrie.
