In Memory of Gerald A. Wells


June 14, 1944 - October 3, 2022

Gerald A. Wells, age 78, of Winter, WI passed away on Monday, October 3, 2022, at his home.

Gerald Alan Wells was born June 14, 1944, in Auburn, NY, the son of Elmer and Emma (Troendle) Wells.

Gerald was raised in Union Springs, NY and attended school there. He graduated from high school and then joined the U.S. Army on October 16, 1961. He served his country until May 22, 1973, and earned the National Defense Service Medal, Army Commendation Medal, and the Good Conduct Medal. After his time in the service, he returned to Illinois where he went to work for a motorcoach company.  He drove for the company and worked as a mechanic. Gerald became an over the road trucker and worked with Dean Foods and as an independent trucker. He moved to Winter, WI in the early 1990’s and continued as a truck driver. He enjoyed riding his Harley Davidson motorcycles and tinkering on projects in his shop at his home.

Gerald is survived by his two children, Debra (Charles) Murphy of Swea City, IA, Timothy (Donna) Wells of Bayview, TX; five grandchildren; one sister, Judith Verbeck; several nieces and nephews; ex-wives, Diane Wells and Joan Scott Baker; and special friend Sue Smuda.

A private interment will be held for Gerald at the Northern Wisconsin Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Spooner, WI. Military honors will be accorded by the State of Wisconsin Military Funeral Honors Program.
