In Memory of Georgine K. Mielke

February 22, 1937 - January 8, 2023

Georgine Kay Mielke “Genie” passed away peacefully at home on January 8, 2023.

Genie was born in St. Paul, Minnesota to Nellie and Odin Hagen on February 22, 1937.

The family moved to the farm in Wanderoos, Wisconsin two years later. Genie was the only one of the four Hagen girls who spent her entire youth on the farm. She attended the 2 room schoolhouse in Wanderoos for eight years and then attended high school in Osceola where she excelled in music and other extracurricular school activities, and graduated in 1955.

Shortly after graduation Genie wed her high school sweetheart Ronald (Ronnie) Anderson and they had three children together, Dawn Denise, Ron Walker, and Linda Kay. In 1967 she married Richard “Rich” Mielke and from that union she added two more sons to her family, Allen Richard and David Edward.

Rich and Genie transformed the Mielke family property in East Farmington, Wisconsin back to a working dairy farm. She did spend some time in the barn but her big contribution to the farm was her field work and her work with the hogs. She also worked part-time as a bartender (and bouncer!) where she didn’t take any guff! Some of her interests through the years were snowmobiling, singing barbershop harmonies with Sweet Adelines, a love of following all things sports related and keeping track of everyone’s birthdays.

Genie is survived by her sisters, Joan Funne and Pat Anderson; four of her children - Dawn, Walker (Lauren), Linda (Jerry), Dave; and daughter-in-law Pam; 12 grandchildren - Zipporah, Morwenna, Grant, Kyle, Lucas, Sonny, Jerry, Jason, Dusty, Bryan, Stephanie, Casey; and 10 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Rich; her son, Allen; two sisters, Elaine Giswold and Corrinne Elkin; great-grandson, Leon Walker Anderson; daughter-n-law, Melissa Mielke; and son-in-law, Donald Ridley.

A celebration of life will be held at Ken's Keyboard (2699 30th Ave, Osceola, WI 54020) on Saturday, January 28, 2023 from 1:00 PM until 5:00 PM.
