In Memory of Georgette Murphy

November 21, 1930 - April 14, 2019

Georgette Ruth (Randall) Murphy was born November 21, 1930, to Lawn and Marion (Jensen) Randall in Taylors Falls, MN. Georgette was first born with two siblings, John and Marilyn.   She grew up in the Balsam Lake area and graduated from Balsam Lake High School in 1948.

Georgette was united in marriage to Raymond Murphy of Milltown on March 31st, 1951, and to this union three children were born, Michael, Donald and Jaclyn. Ray and Georgette were life-long residents of Polk County and raised their family in the Luck area.

Georgette worked with the Polk County Department of Social Services for many years and was proud to serve on the Luck School Board. Her passion was sewing for her family and friends, leaving lots for them to remember her by from clothing to quilts, handbags and many crafts.

In preparation for their retirement, Ray and Georgette moved to their home on Apple River and subsequently to Balsam Lake. After their retirement, Ray and Georgette spent their winters in Florida with their daughter and her family until packing all her sewing machines, material for multiple projects to keep her busy for the winter became too burdensome and she preferred the solitude in her own very organized sewing room in Wisconsin.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Lawn and Marion Randall; husband, Ray Murphy; and brother, John Randall.

Left to mourn her passing are her children, Mike (Arlene) Murphy of Almena, Don (Jill) Murphy of Frederic, and Jacky (Bob) Ouellette of Balsam Lake/Naples, Florida; sister, Marilyn (Paul) Score of Boyceville; and sister-in-law, Ann Randall of Balsam Lake. She is survived by six grandchildren, Jason (Lisa) Murphy of Almena, Lynda (John) Clem of Carson, Virginia, Veronique (Mike) Berens and Beau Ouellette of Naples, Florida, Dan (Daria) Murphy of Frederic, and Jenny (Jake) Stone of Grantsburg; five great-grandchildren, McKayla, McKenzie and Troy Berens of Naples, Florida, and Wyatt and Levi Murphy of Frederic; as well as many nieces, nephews and cousins very near to her heart.

Services will be Thursday, April 25th, 2019, at Our Lady of the Lakes Catholic Church in Balsam Lake. Visitation will begin at 10:00 a.m. with services held at 11:00 a.m. Lunch will be served in the fellowship hall following the service with interment at St. Patrick’s Cemetery following.

Arrangements are entrusted to Rowe Funeral Home.
