In Memory of Gene Crandell
Gene Lawrence Crandell, 57, passed away peacefully in his sleep on October 31st, 2020.
Gene was born on January 24th, 1963 in Minneapolis, MN to Ardus and Roy Crandell. He graduated from Frederic High School in 1981 and eventually found himself working in Alaska on the North Slope for an oil company. There he met his wife, Mabel. They lived for many years in Kenai, Alaska where their three daughters were born.
Gene was a hard worker who lived a full life enjoying the outdoors, especially deer hunting. His projects and interests were many; he read widely and freely shared his time with friends and family. Gene was also an avid traveler and made his way across the United States, Australia, Spain, and Chile. His wife’s home country, Chile, is where the family lived for two years. Gene was very proud of his bilingual girls and highly respected his beloved wife. They returned to Wisconsin to live for a time and then settled in Excelsior, MN while maintaining properties in Wisconsin.
Gene is survived by his wife, Mabel and their daughters, Kathryn, Madeline and Alison; his siblings, Walt Crandell (Maria Mercedes Lopez), Jerry Crandell (Betty), Carmella Crandell (Larry Damman), Bruce Crandell (Nelly Ly), Roger Crandell, Wayne Crandell, and Connie Buck (Reuben); and many aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews as well as many friends. Gene will be greatly missed.
A celebration of Gene Crandell’s life will be held in the spring of 2021 at his “shop” near St. Croix Falls, Wisconsin.
Arrangements are entrusted to Rowe Funeral Home.
