In Memory of Gary S. Bell
Gary S. "Steve" Bell, age 75, of Grantsburg passed away on July 26, 2024 at home with his loved ones by his side.
Steve was born in Seminole, Texas on October 7, 1948 to parents Arthur and Verna (Antilla) Bell. He graduated from North Branch High School in 1967. Steve attended technical school and became licensed as an Airframe and Power Plant mechanic. Over the years, he worked as a machinist, self-employed small aircraft mechanic, and inspector for Northwest Airlines.
Steve and Jane were married on August 23, 1969 in Grantsburg, WI.
A quiet, unassuming man of faith, Steve was devoted to his family and used his wide variety of skills to provide for his loved ones. He approached life with curiosity and an appetite for learning and adventure. A real-life Renaissance man, there were few challenges he would not take on. He built a home, learned to fly and sail, could fix anything and, with his artisan’s eye, crafted beautiful items ranging from muzzleloaders to musical instruments. He could not pass up a piece of curly maple! Hunting, travel and playing music were also favorite pass times. His lifetime of experiences made for great storytelling and many shared laughs around the campfire.
Steve is preceded in death by his mother, Verna Holman; sister, Kathy Nesgoda, grandparents, Walter and Anna Antilla and John and Lela Bell.
Steve will be forever missed by his loving wife of 54 years, Jane; children, Amy (Scott) Tichy, Kristi (Mike) McCoy and Jon Bell; (Alysa) 8 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren; along with other relatives and many friends.
The memorial service will be held on Tuesday, July 30, 2024 at 2:00 PM (visitation 1-2 PM) at Grace Baptist Church in Grantsburg with Pastor Tom Kelby officiating.
Arrangements were entrusted to Swedberg-Taylor Funeral Home. Online condolences can be made at www.swedberg-taylor.com.
