In Memory of Gary Midwood
Our charming brother, Gary P. Midwood, age 57 of Hayward, WI passed away on Sunday, March 3, 2019 at his home.
Gary Patrick was raised in Lincolnwood, IL, attended school on the nearby Northside of Chicago, and Northland College in Ashland, WI, and spent many summers at the family cabin on Teal Lake. Gary occupied much of his time in the bar industry as an owner of Durkin’s Tavern and later Peg Leg Sullivan’s, which he established, in Chicago. Returning to the Northwoods in 2003, he purchased the Corner Bar in Cable and later moved to Hayward, tending bar at Good Knights Pub. It suited him well, as Gary’s warm and welcoming personality lifted spirits everywhere, heartening countless friends and patrons. A great embracer of life, Gary enjoyed golfing, snowmobiling, playing softball on ice, and organizing the Cable St. Pat’s Day Parade. Gary will be missed by many and will be remembered for his big heart and fun-loving personality.
Gary is preceded in death by his parents, William and Corinne (Simon) Midwood, and his beloved dog, Yaggy; he is survived by his three siblings, Marilyn (Ronald) Stasica of Wheaton, IL, Bill Midwood of Des Plaines, IL, Cathy Midwood of Cable, WI, his niece, Nancy (Blake) Latta and great-niece and great-nephew, Elllie and Will.
A celebration of Gary’s life will be held at a later date to be announced.
