In Memory of Gail Olson
Gail E. (Howard) Olson, age 76, of Luck, WI went with the Lord on Saturday, January 12, 2019 surrounded by family at St. Croix Regional Medical Center, St. Croix Falls, WI.
Gail was born May 24, 1942 to Joseph and Esther Howard in Minneapolis, MN. Gail and Wayne Olson united in marriage on September 9, 1961 at the St. Croix Falls Methodist Church. Wayne and Gail resided in the Mounds View and Roseville, MN area until 1969. During this time Gail was employed at Univac doing secretarial work.
Their first child, Timothy, was born in 1968 at Unity hospital. In 1969, Wayne and Gail purchased a farm in rural Luck where they resided and built their lives and careers on a dairy farm. In 1972, their second child was born, Terilyn, at St. Croix Falls Hospital. Gail spent many years raising her children, helping on the farm, being involved in the Milltown Lutheran Church in various capacities, helping youth in the Jolly Milltown 4-H Club, and the Neighborly Homemakers Club.
Gail’s interests and enjoyment were gardening, working in her yard, reading, playing cards (especially 500), camping, hiking, and playing horseshoes. Her family will most remember her for skills in grammar and spelling, recalling historical dates and events, and preparing family meals with little use of recipes.
In 1989, Gail was diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis. For the next 29 years she battled the progressive and negative effects of the disease. Her spouse, immediate family, friends and neighbors surrounded her by gathering, conversing and being together from the time of diagnosis until her time of death.
Gail is preceded in death by her parents, Joe (1981) and Esther (2010); sister, Joan E. Maas (1989).
Gail will be lovingly cherished and remembered by her spouse, Wayne Olson; children, Timothy (Michele) Olson of East Bethel, MN, Terilyn (Michael) Wallis of Dresser, WI; her grandchildren, Casandra Olson, Carston Olson, Linnaea Wallis, Lance Wallis; and great-granddaughter, Lillian Belle.
Funeral services will be Saturday, January 19, 2019 at 11:00 a.m. at Milltown Lutheran Church, Milltown, WI, followed by lunch and fellowship. Pastor Angie Kutney will officiate. Burial will take place at the Milltown Cemetery following the time of fellowship. Memorial contributions will be donated to the Multiple Sclerosis Society.
