In Memory of Frank Kuznar


July 1, 1921 - June 22, 2019

Frank Edwin Kuznar Age 97, of Rice Lake, WI, formerly of Birchwood, WI passed away on Saturday, June 22, 2019. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather.

Frank was born on July 1, 1921, in Hawkins, WI, to Peter and Agnes (Zurich) Kuznar. He served in the US Army Air Force during World War II as an airplane engine mechanic. Following his honorable discharge in 1946, he received his degree in Agriculture from UW-River Falls and served as Clark County Agriculture Agent. He later owned the Bunny Bar in Birchwood, and he taught science, shop, and agriculture classes at Birchwood High School for 15 years. He was a member of St. John’s Catholic Church in Birchwood and a member of The American Legion for over 50 years. On November 26, 1953, he married Pauline Moskal. They raised four daughters and one son. Frank had a passion for music. He played the violin, trumpet and accordion with The Whirlwinds, an old-time polka/waltz band. He loved spending time outdoors, especially fishing and hunting. He was an avid baseball player and fan. He enjoyed making others laugh and will be remembered for sharing many jokes, puns, and quips.

Frank is survived by his wife, Pauline Kuznar of Rice Lake; 3 daughters: Patricia (Kevin) Turany of Eau Claire, Beverly (Gary) Widiker of Beavercreek, OH and Diana (Ken) Obermeyer of Little Gasparilla Island, FL; a son, Gary Kuznar (friend Glenda Erickson) of Rice Lake; a son-in-law, Warren Walicki of Chippewa Falls; 7 grandchildren; 5 great-grandchildren; a brother, Walter (Rita) Kuznar of Apple Valley, MN; many nephews and nieces. He was preceded in death by his parents; his daughter, Barbara (Walicki), 3 brothers: John, Peter and Andrew, and 5 sisters: Anna, Josephine, Sophie, Geneva, and Stella.

Funeral services will be held at 1:30PM Thursday, June 27, 2019 at Appleyard’s Home for Funerals in Rice Lake, Father Ed Anderson officiating with interment at the Northern Wisconsin Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Spooner, WI where Military Rites will be accorded him by the Birchwood American Legion Post. Visitation will be held for one hour prior to the funeral service at Appleyard’s Home for Funerals.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Our House Memory Care in Rice Lake or Heartland Hospice.
