In Memory of Francis Watson
Francis M. Watson of rural Spooner, Wisconsin, died in his home on McKinley Lake on Monday, December 16, 2019.
Frank was born in Crivitz, Wisconsin, to Ralph B. and Araminta M. Watson on November 2, 1929. He married Henrietta M. Schaub on June 18, 1955 in Mount Calvary, Wisconsin. Frank was a US Army Veteran of the Korean War and spent his civilian career as an electronics technician for airport navigation and instrument landing systems, first with the Federal Aviation Administration and later as a freelance expert in Minnesota, Upper Michigan, South Dakota, and northern Wisconsin. His colleagues appreciated his attention to detail and his steadfast commitment to quality. In his personal life he enjoyed the outdoors and exploring quiet backroads. He found much satisfaction in fixing things and making them work.
He was preceded in death by his brother Ralph and his two sisters, Lois and June.
Survivors include his wife, Henrietta; children Fred of Columbus, OH, Dan (Barb) of Golden, CO, Jane (John) of Sheldon, MO, Jennifer of Wiesloch, Germany, and Ben of Holland, MI; and grandchildren Marie, Jacob, Samuel, Abigail, Titus and Amos.
The funeral will be on Monday, December 23, at 11:00 a.m. at St. Francis de Sales Catholic Church in Spooner with services by Reverend Philip J. Juza. Visitation will be at the church from 10:00-11:00 a.m. preceding the services. Burial will be at the Northern Wisconsin Veterans Memorial Cemetery near Spooner.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made in Frank’s name to St. Francis de Sales Catholic School, 300 Oak Street, Spooner, WI 54801. Donations will be earmarked for tuition assistance for children to attend the school.
