October 9, 1927 - June 16, 2018

Frances Ann (Jilek) Smith Age 90, of Rice Lake, WI passed away peacefully in her sleep at her home Saturday June 16, 2018.

She was born on October 9, 1927 in Rice Lake to Wenceslaus “James” and Marie (Pups) Jilek, of Birchwood, WI. Fran was married to Earl “Happy” Smith on May 10, 1947 in Birchwood, WI. They dairy farmed and raised their 11 children on Happy’s homestead in the Township of Doyle. She was a lifelong member of Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church in Dobie and was also a circle member. She loved being with her family and gardening.

She is survived by her husband, Earl “Happy” Smith of Rice Lake; 11 children; Mary (Scott) Worsley of Bloomer, WI; Janet (Leonard) Rogaczewski of Eau Claire, WI; Earl Jr. (Judy) Smith of Birchwood, WI; David Smith (Donna Colburn) of Rice Lake; Marjorie (Ron) Weigt of Kokomo, IN; Jeff Smith (Michelle Johnson) of Rice Lake; Joe Smith (Clarice Schultz) of Shell Lake, WI; Jim (Kelly) Smith of Rice Lake; Bill (Val) Smith of Sarona, WI; Connie (Mike) Severson of Rice Lake and Dan (Brenda) Smith of Cameron, WI; and numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren and great great grandchildren; a sister, Cecelia “Chip” Halle of Pittsburg, PA; 2 brothers, Anthony “Tony” (Barbara) Jilek of Birchwood; and Louis “Bim” (Gloria) Jilek of Birchwood; many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Danica Smith; her parents, Wenceslaus and Marie Jilek; 5 brothers, Veno, George, Joe, Ted and Dick and 4 sisters, Mary, Lillian, Jen and Alvina.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11AM Wednesday, June 20, 2018 at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church in Dobie, WI, with Father Samuel Schneider officiating, with interment in the Cedar Lake Cemetery.

Visitation will be held for one hour prior to the Funeral Service at the Church on Wednesday. Appleyard’s Home for Funerals in Rice Lake is in charge of the arrangements.
