In Memory of Florence Hoefs


October 18, 1932 - May 20, 2021

Florence G. Hoefs, age 88, a resident of Falun, WI passed away on Thursday, May 20, 2021 at North Memorial Hospital in Robbinsdale, MN.

Florence was born on October 18, 1932 in Milltown to Henry and Inger Christensen, and was the youngest of six children.

She attended South Milltown Grade School and graduated from Milltown High School in 1950. After graduation she worked in St. Paul, MN at the Waldorf Paper Company and Economics Laboratory as a stenographer. She worked one summer at St. Mary’s Lake in Glacier Park, MT.

On January 17, 1953, she married Kenneth Hoefs and they were blessed with four children. They moved to their home in Falun on May 17, 1959 and became members of the First Baptist Church of Falun in 1967. She was fortunate to be a stay-at-home mom during her children’s school years, and then worked for 16 years at the Burnett County Treasurer’s office, retiring on April 30, 1997. She enjoyed sewing, growing flowers and vegetables, and spending time with family and friends. She will forever be remembered by her grandchildren for her amazing roast beef meals and jelly buns.

Florence’s spiritual journey began as a child and led to the great moment in her life when she and Kenny became born again believers in the Lord Jesus Christ.

Florence was preceded in death by her parents; brothers Stanley, Irvin, Wesley and Raymond, and sister Doris.

She is survived by her husband, Kenneth; son, Duane (Nancy Oakes); daughter, Diane (David) Engstrand; daughter, Delane (Craig) Jorgenson; son, Dale (Kristin); 14 grandchildren, 24 great grandchildren (with another due in October), along with many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, June 1, 2021 at 11:00 AM (visitation 10-11 AM) at the First Baptist Church of Falun. Internment will follow lunch at the Lakeview/Mudhen Lake Cemetery in Daniels Township.

Arrangements were entrusted to Swedberg-Taylor Funeral Home, Grantsburg.
