In Memory of Evelyn Juza
October 6, 1924 - October 12, 2018
Evelyn Juza, 94, of Spooner died Friday, October 12, 2018 at Maple Ridge Care Center in Spooner. She was born October 6, 1924 at home on a farm near Haugen, WI to William and Lydia (Subrt) Mlejnek. Evelyn went to a small country school near Haugen through the 8th grade but was unable to continue her education as she was needed to help at home.
Evelyn’s grandfather wrote and directed Czechoslovakian plays performed at the Opera House in Haugen and she was very involved in these productions. Her family was very musical so at age 13 Evelyn started playing piano in the Victor Soukup Band. Here she met her future husband Bernard Juza who was another band member. After Bernard returned from the war they were married on March 25, 1944, and moved to Amarillo Texas where Bernie was stationed.
In 1945 they moved to Barron, WI. Evelyn became a homemaker and raised their two children. She thrived on her gardening and loved her flowers. She was an excellent baker and cook. Due to a job promotion for Bernie they moved to Amery, WI in 1959 where they remained until retirement and moved to Rice Lake, WI. Later they moved to Shell Lake, WI to be closer to their children. After Bernie died Evelyn lived in her home until health issues dictated her move to Glenview and then Maple Ridge Care Center.
She is survived by 1 daughter, Jane (Tom) Davidson of Shell Lake; 1 son, Bernard R (Carol) Juza of Shell Lake; 4 grandchildren, Monica Dahlberg of Franklin, WI, Maria Davidson of Woodside, NY, Ryan (Cristin) Juza of Shell Lake and Jeff (Mary) Juza of White Bear Lake, MN; 5 great grandchildren, Charlie, Samuel, Milena, Olivia and Carina and 1 sister, Dorothy Pichner of Rice Lake, WI. Evelyn was preceded in death by her husband Bernard, 2 brothers Raymond and Clarence.
A celebration of Evelyn’s life will be held 11:00 AM Thursday, October 18, 2018 at Skinner Funeral Home, Shell Lake, WI with Robert Heinze officiating. Private burial of cremains will be in Northern Wisconsin Veterans Cemetery, Spooner.
