In Memory of Evelyn J. Campbell

March 26, 1933 - June 21, 2023

Evelyn J. Campbell, a resident of Shell Lake Health Care Center, passed away at the age of 90, at the Indianhead Medical Center on June 21, 2023. She was a member of the Faith Lutheran Church of Spooner.

Evelyn was born Evelyn Joyce Campbell on March 26, 1933 to the parents of Marion and Mary Campbell. She grew up in the Trego area and lived in California for a short time. She graduated from Spooner High School in 1951.

Evelyn retired from the Spooner Hospital after working there for several years as head of the laundry department. She also retired later from the Trego Travel Center where she would happily provide a wonderful display of her baked goods from cookies to candy, rosettes, and of course let’s not forget her amazing popcorn balls every year at Christmas as it was important to her to give back to her community, her co-workers, and the truckers as well.

Evelyn had many hobbies, from bowling when she was younger to quilting, gardening, baking, fishing, and best of all, going to the casino. Also going to the Saturday night dances, if she could She enjoyed stenciling with paints on tablecloths, dish towels, and pillowcases. She was proud of her handy work and would sell them at the Tadpole School, where she was a member of the Tadpole Homemakers for many years. She was also involved in the Tadpole 4-H Booster Club where she was leader for over 15 years. Evelyn enjoyed the Washburn County Fair immensely and also the fireworks to follow.

Evelyn is preceded in death by her parents, 6 sisters- Fern, Opal, Ruth, Lucille, Ida, and Ethel, 2 brothers-Francis and Robert. Evelyn is survived by her many nieces and nephews and will greatly be missed by all who knew her and loved her. But especially by her dear friends Duane Grimm, Susan Stariha, nephew George Thompson and 2 nieces Darlene Martinson and Altecia Mercier. May God Bless her forever and always.

Evelyn was a kind person with a good soul to everyone. If ever asked upon, she was there for you with a helping hand, a kind ear, lots of strength, and most of all her love. It is at this time that Aunt Evelyn has one last request, and that is that we “do not cry for her” but instead be happy, be happy for her as she is free- free from her pain and in the ever- loving arms of her Maker and Lord.

P.S. Evelyn also enjoyed her Green Bay Packers, Wisconsin Badgers, and of course, her Milwaukee Brewers.

P.S. P.S. Again - And as remembered by Altecia, let us never forget the words I once heard from Aunt Evelyn - “Because someone we know is in heaven now, there is a little bit of heaven in our hearts.”

We love you Aunt Evelyn!!!
