In Memory of Evelyn E. Campbell

March 27, 1956 - November 13, 2020

Evelyn E. “Betty” Campbell passed away peacefully on Friday, November 13, 2020 after a brief but brave battle with a brain tumor. She was 64 years old.

Betty was born on March 27, 1956 in Delaware, while her parents Robert and Mazie (Sorrells) Spafford were returning from a family visit in North Carolina. She was the second oldest of seven children. She was raised in the Webster/Siren area, graduating from Webster High School in 1974. Betty attended WITC in Superior and completed her Associate’s degree in Medical Transcription in 1997.

Betty worked at several local hospitality businesses through the years, sharing her amazing cooking talents, work ethic and personality with all. She also loved her time working at Birchview Group Home as a live-in caretaker and spent the last years of her career at Frederic Nursing & Rehab until retiring in 2015.

Betty loved being outdoors, fishing and gardening. She always looked forward to family gatherings and holidays where her homemade dishes were the delicious star of the show every time. She had a great sense of humor and was always upbeat despite her, at times, debilitating struggle with Rheumatoid Arthritis. She loved helping others and will be remembered by many as a trusted sponsor, counselor, advisor, friend and surrogate.

Betty was preceded in death by her parents and husband, Clifford.

She is survived and will be greatly missed by her partner, Gary Haaf and family; daughter, Kari (Danny) Avila; her grandson, Airman First Class Sebastian Avila; her siblings, Bill (Karen) Spafford, Bobby (Lana) Spafford, John (Linda) Spafford, Judy (Tom Perlinger) Wilson, Maylene (Brian) Dockendorf and Shawn (Karen) Spafford; along with numerous loving nieces, nephews, cousins, dear friends and extended family.

A private burial will take place at Oak Grove Cemetery. A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.

Special appreciation to HealthPartners Hospice, St Croix Hospice and Frederic Nursing & Rehab for their compassionate care and guidance.

Arrangements were entrusted to Swedberg-Taylor Funeral Home, Webster.
