Eunice Mae Swenson, 91, died Wednesday, April 24, 2019 at the Willow Ridge Nursing Home in Amery. She was born on Sunnydale Farm in St. Croix Falls, WI on October 4, 1927 to Richard and Lillian (nee Fisk) Laursen. She was the third of five children and was raised in the Fredric area until her graduation from Fredric High School at the age of 17.

Her freshman year in high school, she met her future husband, Duane "Pat" Swenson, and they were married on August 16, 1947. Together they had five children: Cathy Sears, Todd (Jody) Swenson, Rick Swenson, Nancy Cornelius (Annie Macken), and Mike (Jenny) Swenson. They moved to Turtle Lake, WI in 1952 where Pat taught school for over 30 years. During that time, while raising five children, Eunice also worked as a school bus driver, a nurse's aide, a daycare assistant, and a the purchasing agent for the Cumberland Memorial Hospital in Cumberland, WI.

Eunice had a passion for music that developed early in life thanks, in part, to her father's career as band director and music teacher. She and her siblings all learned to play multiple instruments. Eunice loved playing the piano, a love that remained strong enough through the years. In her mid - 70's, she decided to learn how to play the organ, a skill that led her to play for church services for both Parkview Methodist Church and St. Ann's Catholic Church in Turtle Lake.

Her faith was also an important part of her life. Eunice could always be counted upon to lend a hand at church functions and events. She gave her time freely to serve others. Eunice was an avid golfer, she played bridge and found time to maintain a thriving flower garden at their home on Horseshoe Lake. Anyone who was lucky enough to try her banana bread will never forget it.

Eunice is survived by her five children; ten grandchildren: Amy, Hayley, Kurt, Cari, Noah, Ryan, Isaac, Natalie, Adam, and Jack; four great-grandchildren: Brianna, Remy, Connor, and Caleb; sister, Patricia (Don) Denny; and sister-in-law, Bev Laursen. She was preceded in death by her husband, Pat; her parents, Richard and Lillian; her brother, Carl; her sister, Ruth and brother-in-law Wayne; and her sister, Mary Jane and brother-in-law, Virgil.

The funeral service for Eunice Swenson will be announced at a later date.
