Ethel Marie (Peterson) Nelson was born on February 28, 1927 in Amery, Wisconsin, and passed away on Sunday September 15, 2024, at the age of 97 ½ .

She was the daughter of John Henry Peterson and Amanda (Mickelson) Peterson.

Ethel graduated from Amery High School in 1945 and had worked at Amery’s Coast-to-Coast Hardware, The Sears Store and Amery Hospital.

She married Edwin O. Nelson on August 3, 1947 and was the loving mother to two sons; Bradley E., of Superior, WI, and Dennis R. (Kathy), of Amery.

Ethel was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Edwin; eight brothers and sisters, Olga Wilson, Blanche Peterson, Irma Matt, Pearl Knutson, Raymond Peterson, William Peterson, Mae Peterson, Harvey Peterson; and daughter-in-law, Judy Trisko Nelson.

Ethel is survived by her sons, Brad and Dennis and daughter-in-law, Kathy Nelson. She leaves behind her beloved grandchildren, Daniel (Kimberly) Nelson, Kevin Nelson (and family), Amanda Nelson, Timothy (Kelli) Nelson, Christy (Brett) Moravitz & Kelly (Jeremiah) Galvan; great-grandchildren, Aaron J. Nelson (Ember), Kaitlyn (Zach) Barclay, Kristopher (McKenzie) Nelson, Eva & Cora Nelson, Brooklyn & Bennett Moravitz, Georgia, Evangeline & Amery Galvan; and she is also survived by her sister-in-law, Joyce (Harvey) Peterson.

Ethel was also blessed with eleven great-great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.

A visitation will take place on Wednesday, September 18, 2024 from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. at the Williamson-White Funeral Home in Amery. The funeral service will be at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, September 19, 2024 at Redeemer Lutheran Church in Amery, with a visitation beginning one hour prior to the service at the church. The service will be followed by a luncheon hosted by the Redeemer Ladies Aide and interment at Clear Lake Cemetery in Clear Lake, WI.
