In Memory of Ethel J. Daniels

June 8, 1927 - November 26, 2024

Ethel June Daniels (Mortson) was born in Webster, WI. on June 8, 1927. She entered into heaven peacefully on November 26, 2024 in Luck, WI.

Ethel graduated from Orange Elementary School before graduating from Webster High School. Upon graduation, she spent 3 years in Washington DC working at the pentagon in the record keeping department. She returned home and found the love of her life, Melvin Daniels and was married soon after. Melvin was called to duty and spent the next few years overseas due to the Korean War. Soon after his return home, they began raising a family and moved to Minneapolis.

Ethel worked at North Memorial Hospital for several years as a nurse’s aide. She loved caring for patients. In 1972 they decided to move back to Wisconsin and lived on Clear Lake in Siren. It wasn’t long and she was working as a nurse’s aide at Capeside Cove in Siren.

Ethel was very involved with her church, Bethany Lutheran in Siren, WI and would not miss any community events. She loved going on walks with her neighbor and best friend, Barb Lyga. When she stopped driving, she would call her good friend, Wanda Flanigan to make sure that they wouldn’t miss anything that was going on.

Ethel spent that last 4 ½ years at the assisted living facility and the Pioneer Nursing Home in Luck, WI. Ethel loved the entire staff at UPH, and they made her feel like a family member. Our family would like to recognize the entire staff. We know they loved her and will miss her.

Ethel was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Melvin; daughter, Mary Jane; 2 brothers and 6 sisters.

She is survived by her sons, Greg (Polly), Galen (Kay) and Dana (Barb); sister, Elaine (Charles) Scott; and many nieces, nephews, grandchildren and great grandchildren; along with other relatives and many friends.

The funeral service for Ethel will take place on Thursday, December 5, 2024 at 11:00 AM (visitation from 10-11) at Bethany Lutheran Church in Siren, WI., with Pastor Emily Stelling officiating.
