In Memory of Erwin Scheil


September 23, 1927 - June 29, 2019

On Saturday, June 29, 2019, Erwin “Erv” Henry Scheil passed away at his home in Cameron, at the age of 91.

He was born on September 23, 1927, to Henry and Hulda (Filter) Scheil on the family farm near Hillsdale.  He married Ilene Frisinger on June 8, 1956, in Barron.  They raised three children, Doug, Connie and Steve, and continued the family farm for 30 years.  After an early retirement, they relocated to Cameron, where they built a new home on the Red Cedar River.

The family’s dining room table was a gathering place for many through the years.  He enjoyed sharing meals, playing card games and Zonk with friends and family.  Erv enjoyed fishing, especially trout fishing.  Erv liked to stay busy and was always ready for a drive.  He had a passion for woodworking and shared many of his creations with loved ones.  He had a great outlook on life and always saw the good in people. 

Erv is survived by his children, Douglas Scheil of Cameron, Connie (Vince) Genatempo of Cameron, and Steve (Joy) Scheil of Turtle Lake; grandchildren, Missy (Burt) Wardall of Belgium, Krista Townsend, Stephanie (Luke) Kunesh and Ashley (Joe) Estreen, all of Rice Lake; great-grandchildren, Aliya, Emilie, Talyn, Melayna, Jaetyn, Riley, Jaxtyn and Jarek; sister, Elaine (Bob) Klicker of Billings, MT; former son-in-law, Mike Townsend of Barron; as well as many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. 

He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Ilene; grandson, Dustin Scheil; special friend, Merlyn Hanson; brothers, Norm and Jim Scheil.

Funeral services for Erwin “Erv” Scheil will be Wednesday, July 3, 2019 at 11:00 A.M. at Faith Lutheran Church in Cameron with Rev. Tamra Harder officiating.  Visitation will be from 4:00 until 7:00 P.M. on Tuesday, July 2, 2019 at Rausch and Steel Funeral Home in Barron and one hour prior to the service at the church on Wednesday morning.  Burial will be at Wayside Cemetery in Barron.

Arrangements are being handled by Rausch and Steel Funeral Home in Barron
