Erland Emery Johnson Age 84, of Rice Lake, WI died Tuesday, May 21, 2019 at the Indianhead Medical Center in Shell Lake, WI.

He was born on October 22, 1934 in Rice Lake to Hjalmer and Amelia (Nieman) Johnson. Erland farmed, drove semi driver for various companies, was a knife sharpener and in maintenance for American Excelsior in Rice Lake for many years. Erland was married to Roberta Robertson Jilek and later to Donna Torgerson on March 14, 1996. He loved motorcycles, restoring old furniture, fishing, hunting, gardening, woodworking, loved all animals, tinkering on motors, played kittenball when he was growing up, unconditional love for his grandkids, spending time in the woods, watching the wildlife, drinking coffee and having a little something to chew on.

He is survived by 2 daughters, Vicky Johnson (Susan) of Amelia Island, Florida and Debra Johnson of California; 3 stepdaughters, Deborah VanMeter of Harrisonville, Missouri, Denise Johnson of Chetek and Darcy VanMeter (Jim Kujala) of Spooner, WI; 15 grandchildren; 17 great grandchildren; a sister, Sylvia Barnes of Rice Lake; many nephews and nieces. He was preceded in death by his wife, Donna Johnson; his parents, Hjalmer and Amelia Johnson; a brother, Einar (Margaret) Johnson.

Funeral Services will be held at 11AM Saturday, May 25, 2019 at Appleyard’s Home for Funerals in Rice Lake with interment in the Nora Cemetery in Rice Lake. Visitation will be held for one hour prior to the Funeral Service at Appleyard’s Home for Funerals.
