Elverta “Vert” Elizabeth Carlson Age 91, of Rice Lake, WI, died Saturday, October 15, 2022 in Rice Lake.

She was born on November 19, 1930 in Dobie, WI to Joseph and Katherine (Schieffer) Svacina. Vert graduated from Rice Lake High School in 1948.

She was married to John Carlson on November 26, 1952 in Dobie, WI. Elverta was a bank teller and later became a homemaker taking care of her family. She loved to garden, sew, knit, quilt, crochet, bake and also volunteered most of her time at St. Joseph Catholic Church and School.

She is survived by 7 daughters, Julie Carlson, Kathy (Dave) Wilson, Luann (Gary) Seemann, Nancy Peterson, Peggy (Randy) Hansen, Brenda Hanson and Jonna (Vince) Meyer; a son, Jim (Teresa) Carlson; 14 grandchildren; 20 great grandchildren; many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, John Carlson; her parents; a grandson, Andy Peterson; a sister, Vivian Falkner; 5 brothers, Reynold, Clarence, Donald, Lester and Alois “Ole” Svacina.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11AM Monday, October 24, 2022 at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Rice Lake, Bishop James Powers and Father Ed Anderson officiating, with interment in St. Joseph Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 9-11AM Monday at the Church.

Appleyard’s Home for Funerals in Rice Lake is assisting the family with the arrangements.

In lieu of flowers, memorials would be appreciated to St. Joseph Catholic School.
