In Memory of Elsie Armstrong
Elsie F. (Denson) Armstrong, 92, of Cumberland passed away Thursday, February 6, 2020 at Cumberland Care and Rehab Center. She was born April 6, 1927 in Dendron Virginia to Shilie and Huntas Densen. There she met Walter V. Armstrong and they were married Oct 23, 1944. Over the years Elsie worked in textiles, the Stokely bean canning factory (now known as Seneca) in Cumberland where she did the payroll office work, then worked at the St Croix Casino in Turtle Lake in the Marketing Department for twenty-two years. She was definitely a people person with a lovable personality. She bowled, loved sports, was a big Green Bay Packers fan and most of all valued time with her family.
She is survived by her daughter, Anna E. (Armstrong) Richey of Oklahoma; daughter-in-law Alice S. (Anderson) Armstrong of Rice Lake; seven grandchildren: Wayne (Heidi) Richey, Paula Riedell, Dawn Lindsey, Rebecca (Doug) Kucko, Sarah (Josh) Miles, Gregory Armstrong, Rachel (Jordan) Knudson; 10 great grandchildren, five great, great grandchildren; two special nieces: Nancy Nichols and family and Barbara Ann Nolan of Virginia; special friend Bonnie Anderson and all at the Lakeview Apartments in Cumberland with special love and blessings to the church family at Cumberland Baptist Church.
Elsie was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Walter V. Armstrong; son, Gary W. Armstrong; son-in-law, Louis R. Richey; grandson, Matthew Armstrong; two sisters; two brothers and many nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM at Cumberland Baptist Church on Tuesday, February 11, 2020 with Pastor Gary Dorn officiating. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service and from 4-7 PM on Monday, February 10 at Skinner Funeral Home in Cumberland.
