In Memory of Elmer Huiras
Elmer Francis Huiras, 85, of Rice Lake died Thursday, November 7, 2019, at Sacred Heart Hospital. He was born August 17, 1934, in Canton, WI to John and Melvina (Crotteau) Huiras. He was married in St. Joseph Catholic Church on October 2, 1965, to Judy Swant.
Elmer was a bowman, huntsman, fisherman, talented gardener and canner, and skilled craftsman. He built the home he and his family lived in. Elmer was a selfless man, willing to lend a hand anytime help was needed.
He is survived by his wife, Judy; children: Debbie (Mike) Keyes, Steven Huiras, Mitch Huiras, Kurt (Vanessa) Huiras, and Marc Huiras; grandchildren: Gus Keyes, and Alex Keyes; siblings: Gladys Halvorson, and Bill Huiras; many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and nephews and other relatives. He was preceded in death by his son, Gregory; his parents; brothers Paul and Roy Huiras; and sister, Minnie Huiras.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 AM Wednesday, November 13, 2019, at Skinner Funeral Home Rice Lake, WI with Father Samuel Schneider officiating. Burial will be in St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery. Military honors will be held at St. Joseph Cemetery following the service. Visitation will be from 4:00 to 7:00 PM Tuesday at the Skinner Funeral Home in Rice Lake and for one hour prior to the service on Wednesday.
