In Memory of Elmer Corbine Jr.


February 7, 1941 - October 17, 2023

Elmer G. Corbine, aged 82, of Hayward, WI, died surrounded by his family on Tuesday, October 17, 2023 at Meadow Brook Senior Living in Chetek, WI.

Elmer George Corbine was born on February 7, 1941, in Hayward, WI, the son of Elmer Sr. and Norma (Larson) Corbine.

He was raised in Hayward and attended St. Francis Indian Mission, Jordan School, and Hayward High School. Elmer was a caretaker and fishing guide at the Lake Shore Fishing Club for about 60 years where he grew up and raised his children. He drove the school bus for St. Francis Mission School for 47 years. In addition, he held the position of sexton for St. Francis Cemetery. Elmer is a direct descendent of John Baptiste Corbine, who was instrumental in the establishment of the Indian Mission church in the late 1700’s, and Elmer was a parishioner there for his lifetime. Elmer was married to his first love, Jacqueline Harnden Corbine, for 57 years during which they enjoyed traveling around North America. Elmer loved hunting and fishing with family, military history, the Green Bay Packers, feeding and watching local wildlife, and caring for his Labrador Retrievers.

He is survived by his wife Jacqueline; children, Lee Corbine, Sheila Corbine, Laurie (Bryan) Schilling and Anthony (Theresa) Corbine; his grandchildren, Corbin Schilling, Grace Schilling, Anthony G. Corbine, and Katherine Corbine; his brother, Dan (Mimi) Corbine; and his sisters, Elizabeth Christy, Diane Martinson, Linda (Bill) Nebel, Janet Froemel, Betty Scott and Florence Baker; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

Elmer was preceded in death by his parents: Elmer G. and Norma C. Corbine, and William and Nora Isham; his brothers, Joe Corbine, William Corbine, Harold Corbine, Kenneth Corbine and Ralph Isham; his sisters, Roberta Corbine, Yvonne Jones, Kathleen Campbell, Doreen Rouse, Carolyn Wolfe and Dolores Walczyk.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11am on Friday, October 27, 2023, at St Francis Solanus Catholic Church in Reserve, with the burial to follow in St. Francis Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 5:00 - 8:00pm on Thursday, October 26, at Pineview Funeral Service in Hayward and again on Friday the 27th from 9-10:30 am prior to leaving for the Mass at Church.

Honorary Casket bearers are Johnny Boy Corbine, Marvin Corbine, Rusty Corbine, Tom Corbine, Stony Larson, Brian Delapast, Cherie Corbine, and Jeff Bignell.

Casket bearers will be Corbin Schilling, Willy Nebel, Jake Isham, Rob Coddington, Dan Isham and Matt Martinson.
