In Memory of Eleanore Desrosiers


September 26, 1920 - May 29, 2019

Eleanore Eunice Desrosiers, age 98, of Barnes, passed away Wednesday, May 29, 2019 at Shell Lake Health Care in Shell Lake, WI.  She was born September 26, 1920 in Chetek, WI, the daughter of George and Geneva (Norton) Hunt. 

Eleanore owned and operated The Boulder Lodge on Middle Eau Claire Lake near Barnes.  She also owned the Barnes Bait Shop and The Cabin Store. She was very involved in many Barnes area service clubs and was truly proud of the Barnes community.  She was a lifelong member of the VFW Women’s Auxiliary.  After selling the resort, Eleanore moved to her old family farmstead on County Road N near the Barnes Town Hall. 

She is survived by many relatives; dear friends; and many loved ones in her beloved Barnes community.

In addition to her parents, Eleanore is preceded in death by her husband, John “Babe” Desrosiers; her sister, Catherine; and her brother Jim. 

A funeral service will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Friday, June 7, 2019 at the Barnes Community Church, 3200 County Hwy N in Barnes, where visitation will be held from 10:00 A.M. until the hour of the service.  She will be laid to rest in the Barnes Memorial Cemetery.  A gathering will follow at the Barnes VFW.
