In Memory of Elaine Ma. Johnson


May 31, 1939 - August 15, 2022

Elaine Margaret Johnson, age 83 of Barron passed away peacefully in her home surrounded by family after a long courageous battle with cancer on Monday, August 15, 2022.

Elaine was born on May 31, 1939 at St. Clair, MI to June and Leonard Smith.

At 6 months old, she went to live with her grandparents, Edith Mae and Victor St. George in Superior, WI. Elaine always said her grandma Edith was the most important person in her life growing up. She taught her many things including how to cook, bake, sew, garden and preserve. Elaine graduated from East High School in Superior, in 1957.

Elaine would go on to marry 3 times and to those unions, have 6 children. She would marry one last time after finally meeting her soulmate and love of her life, Larry Johnson. They would have celebrated their 30th anniversary on August 28th.

Elaine loved spending her summers at the cabin in Solon Springs. This land is shared with her Lord/St. George family members and was very special to her not only because of the family she shared it with, but because it ties her to her Native American heritage which she was very proud of.

Elaine was a proud member of the VFW Auxiliary. She enjoyed planting and working in her flower gardens, 4 Wheeling, dancing, playing darts and dart ball with her 5th Street team, watching her beloved Vikings, knitting, crocheting and of course, spending time with family and friends.

Elaine is survived by her loving, husband, Larry; 3 sons, Terry (Sara) Androsky, Ken (Kayla) Androsky and William (Carmen) Lawrence; 3 daughters, Connie (Steve Koski) Miller, Jolynda (Dale) Campbell and Michelle (David) Hare; 3 step-children, Stephanie (James) Vincent, Rusty Johnson and Brittany Raboin; 18 grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren; as well as nieces, nephews and cousins.

She was preceded in death by her mom, June Hoppe; step-father, Ben Hoppe; grandparents, Edith Mae and Victor St. George; in-laws, Myrtle and Robert Johnson; and her first husband, Ernie Androsky.

Friends and family are invited to say a final goodbye to Elaine at the Rausch and Steel Funeral Home in Barron on Friday, August 19, 2022 from 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. with a service to follow at 7:00 p.m.

Arrangements are being handled by Rausch and Steel Funeral Home in Barron.
