Edwin “Ed” R. Cox, age 81, of Barron, died Friday, January 25, 2019 at Marshfield Medical Center in Eau Claire, Wis. 

Ed was born on August 7, 1937 in Monroe, Wis. to Russell and Audrey (Perdue) Cox.  After graduating from Freeport High School in Freeport, Ill., he joined the Army in 1956.  He enjoyed being stationed as a radio operator just outside of Paris, France and had many fond memories of his time spent there.

Upon returning to the States, Ed majored in education at the Green County Teachers College in Monroe.  During this time, he met Ginny, the little lady of his dreams, and made her his beloved wife in June, 1963.  They enjoyed the outdoors and flying airplanes.  After many adventures throughout Wisconsin and four children later, they settled in Barron.  As a master educator, even in retirement, Ed enjoyed substitute teaching throughout Barron County because of his love for children.

Ed is survived by his wife, Ginny (Rogers) of Barron; son, Nathan (Jennifer) of Barron; daughter, Heather (Mike) Hentz of Eau Claire; daughter, Megan (Dennis) Goldwood of Ash Flat, Ark.; daughter, Jodie (Brody) Dantzman of Barron; and grandchildren, Alex, Jennica, Julia, Kayla, Jared, Ernie, Kaprincia, Samantha, Emily, Kayleah, Gavin, and Sophia; brothers, James (Erika) Cox of Spokane, Wash.; Butch (Marla) Pommerening of Freeport, Ill.; David (Melanie) Pommerening of Freeport, Ill.; sisters, Donna (Jerry) Malloy of Channelview, Tex.; Sally (Delbert) Bunker of Freeport, Ill. and Sue Pommerening of Freeport, Ill.; in addition to many nieces and nephews.

Funeral services for Edwin Cox will be Thursday, January 31, 2019 at 11:00 a.m. at the First Baptist Church in Barron with Rev. Steve Svendsen officiating.  Visitation will be Wednesday, January 30, 2019 from 4:00 until 7:00 p.m. at Rausch & Steel Funeral Home in Barron as well as one hour prior to the service at the church on Thursday morning.
