In Memory of Edith Marjori Gossen
January 26, 1922 - July 28, 2017
Edith Marjori Gossen, age 95, passed away Friday, July 28, 2017 at Spooner Health in Spooner, Wisconsin. She was born on January 26, 1922 in Bessemer, MI, the daughter of Joseph and Clara (Remondini) Zanon.
She graduated from high school in 1939 and was employed as a dental assistant until she married Gerald Gossen on January 17, 1942 in Bessemer. Shortly afterwards, while her husband was in the service during World War II she worked in a war plant in Milwaukee until his discharge.
They moved to Spooner in 1949 where Gerald was employed by the Spooner School District. She was employed by John and Greta Chichester at Riverside Cabin Rentals and Jo Barta at the Museum of Woodcarving. She later became a switchboard operator for the Northwest Telephone Company for 11 years until they converted to the dial system. She then worked for the Thorp Finance Corporation for five years and later at the Spooner Hospital until she retired in 1975.
She is survived by her son, Thomas (Karla) Gossen of Oak Harbor, WA; three step-grandchildren, Krystal, Russell and Sarah all of Oak Harbor, WA; her sister, Elaine Ewing of Waukesha, WI; and many nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, Edith is preceded in death by her beloved husband, Gerald; her brother, Leonard Zanon; her sister-in-law, Marge Zanon; and her grandson, Thomas Christopher Gossen.
A memorial Mass will be celebrated at 11:00 A.M. on Friday, August 11, 2017 at St. Francis de Sales Catholic Church in Spooner, where visitation will be held from 10:00 A.M. until the hour of Mass. Interment will be in Northern Wisconsin Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Beaverbrook Township.
