In Memory of Edith Engelhart


January 3, 1918 - November 15, 2019

Edith A. Engelhart, age 101, of Trade Lake, passed away on November 15, 2019, at the Burnett Medical Continuing Care Center in Grantsburg.

Edith was born on January 3, 1918 to parents, Edla and Fred Peterson. She attended Trade Lake #3 School until the 8th grade and then went on to graduate from Grantsburg High School in 1936.

On November 12, 1949, Edith was united in marriage to Alfred Engelhart.

Edith enjoyed playing solitaire and “card parties” spent playing 500. She also had a hobby of weaving rugs and quilting. Her favorite memories were those spent with her family, whom she loved dearly.

Preceding her in death are her parents; husband, Alfred; siblings: Agnes (Harold) Larson, Gustaf (Carol) Peterson, Ruth (Lester) Johnson and Moritz Peterson; great-grandson, Jorden Otis; nephew, Morris Johnson; and nieces, Nancy Carlson and Lynnea Johnson.

Edith is survived by her daughters, Edla (Gilbert) Meyer and Elna (Darryl) Doornink; grandchildren: Gail (Evan) Regal, Gloria Meyer, Erin Otis, Kari (Chris) Green, Scott (Natalie) Doornink and Chad (Jennifer) Doornink; great-grandchildren: Melinda, Lori, Michael, Isaac, Lauren (Mike), Austin (Corey), Tony, Christian, Olivia, Carter, Caden, Chase, Noelle, Payton and Parker; great-great grandchildren: Levi, Landon, Harper and Jaecee; and many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Friday, November 22, 2019, at 11:00am (visitation from 10-11am) at the Zion Lutheran Church of Trade Lake, with Pastor John Petersen officiating. A time of fellowship will follow the service.

Arrangements have been entrusted to Swedberg-Taylor Funeral Home in Grantsburg.
