In Memory of Duane Hanson


October 15, 1935 - January 27, 2022

Duane Arthur Hanson, age 86, passed away peacefully at Meadowbrook at Chetek on January 27, 2022.

Duane was born on October 15, 1935, to Clara and Arthur Hanson in Auburn in Chippewa County, Wisconsin.

He enjoyed going bowling and rooting for every Wisconsin sports team. Duane loved to go watch his grandchildren play in their high school sports and would drive the player’s buses. He would spend any time he could with his beloved grandchildren. Duane also enjoyed watching the Game Show Network on television. He was a school bus driver for 35 years, driving from 1980 and retiring in 2015. Duane also owned the Pro-Service gas station in Chetek, WI from 1965 to the early 2000s. Duane served in the United States Army and was stationed in Korea.

Duane was loved by and will be missed by many.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Clara and Arthur Hanson, wife, Judy Hanson, and sisters, Arlene Ferg and Alice Culver.

Duane leaves to celebrate his memory, his daughters, Shari (Rodney) Bowers, and Shelli (Rick) Hanson, grandchildren, Kirsten (Kevin) Van Camp, Joshua Bowers, and Reece Vergin, brother, Gordon (Jona) Hanson, sister-in-laws, Carolyn Cizek, Leona Puppe, and Betty (Rick) Rockow, brother-in-law, Bob Johnson, as well as many nieces, nephews, and other loving family and friends.

There will be a memorial service held for Duane on Saturday, February 5, 2022, at the Chetek Lutheran Church at 1:00 P.M., with a visitation being held prior from 11:00-1:00 P.M. Refreshments will follow the service at the church.

Funeral arrangements were entrusted to the Burnham-Ours-Kolstad Funeral Home in Chetek, WI.
