Duane Edward Fogerty, born June 18, 1947, in River Falls, Wisconsin, passed away from complications of Ischemic Heart Disease on December 5, 2023, at Marshfield Hospital, in Marshfield, Wisconsin after a lengthy illness. His parents, Darwin B. Fogerty and VeNila G. Fogerty preceded him in death.

Duane graduated from St. Croix Central High School in 1965. He entered the Marine Corps in 1966, where he worked on the KC-130 airplanes within the VMGR 152 unit. He was stationed in DaNang, Vietnam from 1967-1968. He left the service in 1970.

He returned home to Roberts, Wisconsin after his service to attend college at the University of Wisconsin-River Falls and became a history teacher. He graduated in 1972. Unable to find a job he went to Los Angles and became a police officer. He then returned to school at the University of Wisconsin-River Falls, and picked up his Master’s in Counseling Education. He met and married his only wife Pat, while getting his bachelor’s degree.

Duane developed a love of flying while in the Corps. He parachute jumped in New River and received his private pilot’s license for fixed wing Cessnas. Eventually he was able to purchase 2 of these gems, finding the sky again. It gave him peace.

While in the Corps, Duane played football on his base team. He stated that the team never lost a game.

Duane is survived by his wife Pat, of 46 years, brother David and wife (Veronica), twin brother Dale and wife (Betty), and brother Dennis and wife (Linda); niece and nephews and second niece and nephew.

Duane loved to fly as a hobby. He was also an avid deer hunter and fisherman around the northern part of Wisconsin.

He and his wife moved around quite a bit and finally settled outside the city of Spooner, Wisconsin.

He developed his own building empire building houses, while also farming, being a police officer in Los Angles and as a correctional officer at Stillwater State Prison in Stillwater, Minnesota. After many years of work, he started to become quite sick and had to stop.

He has requested only to be cremated and have his ashes spread under a nice pine tree. There will be no services.

Memorial donations will be forwarded to the Marine Corps Air Transportation Association Memorial Scholarship fund.
