In Memory of Douglas J. Zappa
Douglas J. Zappa, 63, of Centuria, Wisconsin, was peacefully called home with his loving wife and children by his side on Saturday, December 14, 2024, at Regions Hospital in St. Paul, Minnesota, due to complications from an infection.
Doug was born on March 1, 1961, in St. Paul, Minnesota to Clarence and Mary Ann Zappa. Doug was an avid bass and crappie fisherman, a die-hard Vikings fan, and a dedicated husband, father, and grandfather. Our Papa Doug will be greatly missed.
Doug leaves to celebrate his memory, his loving wife, LaRae of Centuria, his daughters, Britani (Marcus) Berget, New Richmond, WI; Mindi (Andrew) Spofford, Balsam Lake, WI; grandchildren, Izabelle Berget and McKenna and Preston Spofford, his parents, Clarence and Mary Ann Zappa, Frederic, WI; siblings, Joel (Missy) Zappa, Almena, WI; Jerome Zappa, Frederic, WI; and Rebecca Zappa (Bobby), Iowa, nieces, nephews, and other family and friends. He was preceded by his brother, George Zappa.
Visitation will be at the Kolstad Family Funeral Home, Centuria, WI on Sunday, December 22, 2024, from 12:00 P.M. - 1:00 P.M., with a Celebration of Life service beginning at 1:00 P.M. In memory of Doug and knowing how he would be dressed today, the family will be wearing Viking attire. Please feel free to do the same if you choose. An informal gathering to remember Doug and watch the Vikings, as he would most certainly be doing, will immediately follow at McKenzie’s Lanes in Centuria.
