Dorothy M. Topper, age 92, a resident of the Town of Chicog, died peacefully at her home surrounded by family on Sunday, April 14, 2024.

Dorothy was born at the family home in Polk County on November 2, 1931, to parents Arthur and Clara (Jeska) Kleinschmidt. On June 4, 1951, she was united in marriage to Frank Topper in Pine City, Minnesota. The couple farmed in the Town of Crystal Lake for many years before retiring to the Town of Chicog in 1977.

Dorothy loved watching and feeding the birds and also working in her garden growing flowers and vegetables She would often recruit the grandkids to help her with harvesting the vegetables, and then make the world’s best pickles. She also liked to go fishing, but most of all, she loved to spend time with her grandkids.

Dorothy is survived by her children: Sandy Burdick of Trego, Mick (Patty) of Almena, Terry (Christina) of Prairie Farm, Ronald (Cheryl) of Trego, 9 grandkids, 15 great grandkids, 3 great great grandkids, brothers and sisters: Carl Kleinschmidt, Bernice Sellent, Anna Owens, Jerry Kleinschmidt, David Kleinschmidt, Betty Butzler, and many nieces and nephews.

Dorothy is preceded in death by her parents, husband Frank, son Scott, brothers Howard and Danny Kleinschmidt, and great great grandson Braxton.

Funeral services for Dorothy Topper will be held on Friday, April 26, 2024, at 11am, at the Spooner Funeral Home with visitation from 10-11am. Interment will follow at the Chicog Cemetery with a social gathering afterwards at the Chicog Town Hall.
