Doris Leona Nelson Age 74, of Chetek, WI, formerly of Rice Lake, WI went to be with her Heavenly Father on Tuesday, May 30, 2023 in Marshfield, WI.

She was born on November 9, 1948 in Rice Lake to Russell and Mae (Buhrow) LaPoint.

Doris graduated from Rice Lake High School in 1966 and then attended WITC and graduated with a degree in Administrative Assistance. She was married to Daniel Nelson on May 6, 1967 in Rice Lake. Doris worked for Marshfield Clinic and also taught ceramic classes for many years. She enjoyed her grandchildren and loved being with them. Doris babysat her grandchildren, loved going out to lunch with them, getting their nails done and watching them play in their sporting activities. She also enjoyed sewing, quilting, rosemaling, crocheting, reading, watching NCIS and being with her dogs and other animals. Doris had a strong faith where she relied on daily prayers and scripture readings.

She is survived by 3 children, John (Nancy) Nelson, Julie (TJ) Elliott and Jeremy Nelson; 7 grandchildren, Hannah (Matt), Jared (Nicole), Katie, Christopher (Monica), Gage (Ali), Kyla and Callee; 6 great grandchildren, Jocelyn, Clyde, Chris Jr, Douglas, Chloe and Ariella; a sister, Alice LaPoint; 4 brothers, Donald (Vicky), Ray (Renee), Carl and Harold LaPoint; many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by Daniel Nelson; her parents, Russell and Mae LaPoint; a brother, David LaPoint.

Funeral Services will be held at 2PM Thursday, June 8, 2023 at Appleyard’s Home for Funerals in Rice Lake, with visitation for one hour prior to the funeral service.

In lieu of flowers, monetary donations will be accepted.
